Halloween

This year Halloween is fighting back against Christmas and lasting well into November.  Sunday we carved our pumpkins and then last night Andrew and Dylan were finally able to do some trick or treating and give out candy.  Dylan wasn't a huge fan of trick or treating but Andrew had a great time. He may have enjoyed giving out candy even more.

On Friday Halloween will continue with the parade at school and trick or treating with the kids afterwards.

Ready to head out!

Who needs candy!

In a region where power outages have been so widespread all week finding ANYTHING to light a pumpkin proved to be a challenge but we got them to work pretty well.

Preschool!!!

After a week of school being closed Andrew finally headed out yesterday for his first official day of preschool! It was also officially Halloween here in New Jersey.

Hurricane Sandy

This has been quite a week in New Jersey. Overnight Monday hurricane Sandy struck with a vengeance leaving the majority of NJ without power and with severe damage to their homes. We were VERY lucky and made it through the storm without any damage. The power went out Monday night and wasn't back on until Wednesday morning and although that's a long time to go without lights, heat, etc. it was not nearly as long as a lot of people we know... some of whom are still without electricity and heat this weekend.  We hope everyone is back up and running soon.

Day care has been closed all week but we went back to work on Thursday so we've been trying to keep the boys entertained while getting work done. It has been an interesting few days and I know that Andrew will be very excited to get back to school on Monday. Halloween should have been on Wednesday but in NJ it will be celebrated on November 5th this year. I'm sure it will be just as fun as it would have been on the 31st.

Here are some pictures of our week.

Heading outside to check things out early in the storm

What do you do when day care is closed and you have to work? Improvise :-) Sometimes working from home comes in handy.

Celebrating Halloween even though it was moved to Monday

Wednesday we headed out for gas.... this was a SHORT line, only waited about an hour. As of today your license plate number dictates when you can get gas and the lines are still very long but we managed to get both tanks filled.

After a few days in the house Andrew finally got out to run around the yard. Unfortunately there was so much debris the cozy coupe has been relocated to the front hallway where you can actually drive around.

Saturday we headed out for a hike and a trip to the park!!

Luckily Andrew got plenty of art supplies and play doh for his birthday that have helped keep him busy.

Weekend with Gaga and Grandpa

Andrew and Dylan had a great weekend with their grandparents. They went and picked out pumpkins, spent some time at the park and tried on their Halloween costumes.  Dylan even got to have his grandparents to himself for a while when Andrew was at his friend Tori's birthday party.  As always it was a good visit and Andrew was sad to see them go but is excited that he will "see you soon!" when he heads up for Thanksgiving.
